Gavin Scooter Trigger Wire Fix
Scootering in Monterey, Carmel has added a whole new dimension to diving for me. It's truly an underwater motorcycle! Hm...why would I be interested in that? ;-)
So I ordered and received my scooter from George Irvine in Florida and took a scooter class from Beto Nava who went over the basics and some very important info on the scooter and how to dive it.
From the beginning if I would even touch the trigger wire of the Gavin Scooter, the trigger would malfunction and I would have to take apart the trigger handle and put the wire back up onto the wheel pulley. Over the last several months of diving the Gavin Scooter, the trigger wheel never malfunctioned, but I was always careful to never touch the exposed trigger wire.
Then I found that some industrious person has designed and machined a delrin wheel that replaces the cheap plastic one that fixes this problem. Below you can see the difference is sizes. No wonder that wire would jump the pully!
Above is the old pulley wheel, below is the new one.
Just a little difference...eh?
Works perfect!!! Now if I wanted to, I can touch or even actuate the trigger wire and the wire does not come off the wheel!
Edit: it's been about a year since I've been using the "Preston Wheels" and they have continued to work flawlessly for me and my friends!!!!!
The Wheels are about $20 each and will come with the new Gavin Scooters if you ask George you want that upgrade. John Preston, who makes them can be reached at: jpreston1845@yahoo.com
